FAQs

How do you handle dietary requirements?

For a sit-down meal, we require a list containing your guests' names and their specific dietary requirements alongside a seating plan clearly marking where they are sitting.  We will happily prepare a special meal for them or provide them with a variation of the main meal. For example, a dairy-free guest may get a portion of our pomegranate salmon without the yoghurt sauce and a vegan guest would receive a seasonal plated meal.

For canapes or ‘Walk and Fork’ style meal, please provide a list with your guests names and their dietary requirements so our staff can seek them out to ensure they are well fed!

What do you do if there is no commercial kitchen onsite?

We have a fully equipped, state of the art mobile kitchen that we take to events that have no or minimal kitchen facilities onsite (we can cater for up to 250 from this).

All we need is power, an outdoor tap and a flat site. Check out a picture of what our mobile kitchen looks like!

When do you require final numbers?

For weddings and large events, we require final numbers two weeks prior to the event. For smaller events we require final numbers 1 week from the event, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed to by both parties.

If the products are high risk (for example meat and seafood), I am afraid we will be unable to fulfil this request. As per food laws and our Food Control Plan, we are legally not allowed to serve any food that is not from an official supplier. If you would like to supply your own low risk food (cake or desserts), or the food comes from a registered supplier this is fine.

Can we supply our own food (i.e. beef from our family farm, crayfish that my cousin caught…?)

Yes, you can, within reason. For example, you could add in dessert or swap the oysters for a grazing table. Please note, however, if the value of the invoice or the number of guests drops significantly, charges may apply.

Can I make changes to my wedding day details?

This is not included in our package unless you would like us to assist with this. The cost for setup starts at $150 + GST.

Does your service include setting our tables?

We do not provide bar services for large events or weddings. Contact one of our fantastic preferred suppliers if this is something you require: https://www.facebook.com/CraftBarPlus or https://www.blumedarling.co.nz/

Can you provide bar services?

Supply of individual plates, cutlery, napkins and glassware is not included in our per head pricing, as we find our clients needs and visions are different.   However, this is something that we are happy to organise and coordinate on your behalf. We have some wonderful suppliers and lots of great creative ideas.

What we do  provide:

  • All platters and white cocktail napkins for canapés.

  • All serve ware and white cocktail napkins for oyster bars, grazing tables and dessert tables.

  • All of the serve ware and serving utensils for starters and the main meal.

  • Cake stand/s and cutting knife for Blank Canvas wedding cake/cakes.

Do you provide the individual plates, cutlery, napkins and glassware?

Our family-style platters are smaller (shared between 4-6 guests), so tend to fit into spaces on the tables well. We have experienced many different table settings and always seem to find space to fit these in!

We suggest considering how wide the tables are and if they are narrow, we recommend going for more minimal decorations and nothing too substantial down the middle.

In terms of table settings, a wine glass, water glass, main plate, knife and fork per guest is perfect (we find side plates for the bread are unnecessary and don’t tend to get a lot of use).

What do you recommend works well in regards to decorations on tables when considering the food that will be placed on the table?

Our staff wear neat and tidy black clothing and Blank Canvas branded aprons.
